The Arc of Southside’s residential program provides support to individuals in their home to live as independent as possible. We currently support people who share a home together where we offer staff assistance to help them in their daily lives.

In addition to supporting them in their homes, we work with each person to assist them in accessing the community for employment, medical, recreational, spiritual and educational interests. With each person we develop a plan to help them achieve the goals that they wish for their life. This often includes learning and personal development in the areas of cooking, cleaning, shopping, budgeting and social interests.

• We are licensed by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services within the state of Virginia
• We are affiliated with the local Human Rights Committee
• Support staff at The Arc of Southside are well informed and trained in the best ways to support people in reaching their goals. Staff training and development includes, teaching techniques, positive supports, human rights, medication administration and First Aid/CPR.
